Additional notes on Gardner Green: Full blood Cherokee Enrolled
in 1835 at Rocky Creek GA. Per app number 37890 states that there was a Gardner
Green on the roll of 1835, enrolled at Rocky Creek, GA, with 2 others, making
a family of 3, 1 male under 18 years old, 1 male over 18, and 1 female over
16 years, all full-blood. It is further stated in app from William A Green
Grandson of Benjamin and great-grandson of Gardner that when Gardner died,
Benjamin stated that his father was buried in the family burying ground east
somewhere. William A Green States in applicatation number 37820-37660
that He use to see Gardner Greens letters to Benjamin Green, William A. Green's
Grandfather, that stated he was in GA and was enrolled at Rocky Creek in
1835 or 1836. Notes: William Franklin Neal, Columbia, MO...... 5145.
There are on file about 200 applications of persons claiming through
Gardner Green and his son, Benjamin Green. The facts in the case gathered
from applications, letters, affidavits and testimony taken in field. Each
individual family member that had an application has his/her info in their
personal notes. Per our green family cherokee ancestors book: First
lived in VA, then moved to NC, then Tenn, GA border area, and was in Fannin
county GA where he was buried. Census record listed Gardner Green
the year 1835 in Rocky Creek GA with wife Rachel Toalson (Indian name: Allnne
Talitusa); name Talitusa is an English Phonetics corruption of Cherokee "Two
Nights". Tali = Two (pronounced-- Tah-Lee) and u-sv-i = Nights (pronounced
-- oo-suh-ee, but the ee would often be dropped). There were three children
listed also, Benjamin, Isaac, and Martha.

a son other than rest of children in 1815 listed in Green Family History
must have died an infant. James was Principal Chief to the Northern Cherokee
nation after 1842 when his father died. Military Pension app notes
death as 8/19/1866. James served in war of 1812 KY militia Vol. New
Castle KY 10/13/1822 age 22. (if this is so, then his birth year is wrong
we have him as 1789 born in TN). Just after birth of Mary Jane, Rachel
Butler must have died and James married Margaret Peggy London b. 1890 d.
9/11/1885 MO. October 13, 1822 Isaac Malin Minuter Henry co KY. Not sure
what this means, but this info needs to be verified. We have Margaret born
on different dates and died on different dates. Per daughter Margaret
Ketchum appl number 37927 her father lived in Ky from the time she was 10
till 1829 when they moved to MO. None of the ancestors were held as slaves
she states. Burried in Pleasant Groves Cemetary.

Additional notes on Alexander Green: There was a trial involving charges of murder against him and his five sons: Ullysses Sherman, Ellsworth Kimball, Hollister Sheridan, Willis, and Clarence. Per the Mirror paper of 1895, he dropped dead of Dropsy in his chair in Flat River. (Dropsy= when the body cavities fill with fluid). Was in Dent County MO. prior to the 1880 census. Buried in the Davisville Cemetary. From Crawford County history notes: Alex came from Knobview township, Dent county MO. He was there in 1880. Shortly afterward he came to Crawford County MO. Trial notes from the 1895 murder trial: On March 27, 1895 David Hilterbrand, the astranged husband of Elizabeth Green, was found murdered in him home. Alexander Green and Kimball Green were aquitted of this murder on Friday, July 13th, 1895 at 8 o'clock after the arguments for bothe sides were given on Wednesday July 11, 1895, and the jury deliberating all day on July 12, 1895. Clarence and Holly Green were aquitted after a continuance on Wednesday February 26, 1896 at 9 o'clock. Willis and Sherman Green were never tried because of lack of evidence. The Trial lasted 3 months and 16 days for Alexander and Kimball Green. It lasted 10 months and 29 days for Clarence and Holly Green. The papers covering the trial were Potosi Journal, St. Louis Cronicle, and the Crawford Mirror. (Will need to get copies if I can of the paper issues for this) Alexanders land went to Frank H. Farris and John T. Woodruff (attoney's for the Greens) because of foreclosure shortly after murder charges were filed against them. Alexander built from his own funds, a church and a school house on his property for the very people who went against him in this trial. He died in Flat River in the month of August 1895, having nothing. (Would like to get copies of evidence that these two places existed, and also the land info on Alexander's land.
